Populists have long held that the undercounting of minorities and poverty-stricken Americans prevents federal financial support from reaching cash strapped communities. In the meantime, Republicans argue that Democrats try to increase numbers in order to create extra congressional districts in urbanized areas and to bring in more federal money for their constituencies. Populists tended to favor this plan of attack, which were expected to boost the population count in areas of Democratic influence; Republicans tended to fight the new techniques for like reasons.

Democrats have long charged that the undercounting of minorities and poor Americans prevents federal funding from reaching strapped communities. Meanwhile, Republicans argue that Democrats seek to boost numbers in order to create extra congressional districts in urban areas and to bring in more federal money for their constituencies.[4] Democrats tended to favor this approach, which were expected to increase the population count in areas of Democratic strength; Republicans tended to oppose the new techniques for similar reasons. The Progressive answer to rigging the census? ACORN.

ACORN has been a common objective of nonprogressive talk show hosts, including Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh, since last autumn, when Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign accused the group of "monumental voter fraud" and claimed that Obama had "long and deep ties" to the group. ACORN in turn registered potentially millions of fraudulent voter applications in predominantly  black precincts. That way corrupt election workers could "ballot" the dishonest entries at the close of election day. ACORN and the Census are a risky mix for the American people. Any establishment that has a five year design based on redistricting and rigging elections shouldn't be permitted to participate in any way with this crucial process.
